Mid-Season Start-Up Kit Workshop

Where? The Rooftop Garden, 4750 Henri-Julien
When? This Thursday, July 21 at 6:00pm

Hi everyone!

We are happy to invite you to the mid-season check-in and workshop for the start-up kit community!

Come to the rooftop garden this Thursday to share your start-up kit experience with others who have their very own 'Rubbermaid garden and see how our kits are growing on the roof! You’ll also have the opportunity to be inspired by different adaptations we’ve made to the basic grower principles …we’ve got a vertical garden using tin cans, multiple bins feeding off of a central reservoir (the ‘lazy urban farmer’ approach), experiments with different substrates and nutrient solutions and much more!

Start-up kit follow-up

First off, a wholehearted thanks from the Rooftop Garden Project team for participating in the start-up kit pilot project. Here are a few things of note for the next few weeks:

• We have realized that the clear tubes that show the water level in your bin may leak. If this is the case, wrap Teflon tape around the top of the joint that connects to the tubing to make sure that the juncture is tight. Sorry about this! Let us know if you need additional assistance.

• Remember the extremely helpful maintenance and nutrient solution calendar we gave you? We are in the process of refining and translating the document and will be uploading it to the website very shortly. This is a very practical tool to help you properly maintain your growers and help your plants flourish.

Start-up Kits Announcement

This initiative is a pilot project to test our proto-type start-up kits. We are looking for participants who are willing to try the new designs for themselves and stay in touch with us over the summer to make feedback concerning their Kit and manual. This will help us to refine the designs and provide a model that is simple to use and enjoyable for anyone in the community.

We will provide the materials and help you assemble the grower. We will also guide you in selecting your plants, offer advice on maintaining the growers and help you troubleshoot.
Note: a minimal fee will be requested to cover material costs for the start-up kits
